When I tried the first one I thought I had finally found relief for my very severe dry eyes, but regrettably it didn’t last. These do work a little better, the effect lasts a tiny bit longer, but the price is too high for something that is not much better than my far cheaper gel. Maybe they work better for others, in which case they would be worth the cost.

Having very dry eyes, I had high hopes for the gel, but didn’t like it at all. Firstly, it’s packaged in individual tubes (sold as 1 a day) which I found almost impossible to handle. Having broken the tip off, as directed, it was so hard to squeeze out of the tube – I have dodgy hands so squeezing is both painful and difficult- plus I poked myself in the eye twice with the scratchy plastic tip. I ended up squeezing a drop onto my finger (sorry optometrists!) and shoving it in my eyes that way. Lots of reviewers have said that they used 1 vial twice. There was enough gel in each vial to do this so I tried, but couldn’t squeeze the remainder out at all for a second use. There’s a lot left in each vial after one day’s use per eye so it’s very wasteful. Secondly, I found the gel completely distorted my vision and felt strange and slightly uncomfortable. Thirdly, the effect didn’t last all night. Not for me. I’ll be going back to the thealoz duo drops.

Each applicator lasts two days using a couple of drops three times a day. The gel formulation is easy to place in the eye. Beware though After breaking the tab off there was a very fine needle size side spur which I accidentally put into my eye. Time will tell for me but so far it looks promising for dry eye.
